Gibraltar 2025: Definitive Political Agreement for a Single Treaty
In June 2025, the European Union, Spain, the United Kingdom and Gibraltar signed a definitive political agreement on the Gibraltar Treaty. This pact allows for Gibraltar’s incorporation into the Schengen area under Spanish authority, with the presence of Spanish police at the airport and port, and protection of British military bases. The treaty will come into force in 2026, facilitating cooperation and ensuring Gibraltar’s viability.
