Establishing the Liability Standard for Self-Driving Cars
To define the liability of autonomous vehicles, four approaches are proposed: product liability negligence, product strict liability, the reasonable human driver standard, and the reasonable computer driver standard. Scholars suggest combining product negligence liability with a regime of negligent driving liability based on the reasonable human driver standard, thus balancing manufacturer liability with expected behavior standards.
