To protect itself, it needs risk assessments, strategic vision, early warning systems, and coordinated response. Global cooperation is urgent. Germany’s campaign for the UN Security Council 2027-2028 is an opportunity to lead on climate security. Urgent action and international cooperation are needed to avoid catastrophic consequences.
In Ghana, democracy has been successful due to robust institutions, a democratic political culture, and an active civil society. The 1992 Constitution and widespread support for democracy have been fundamental. Leaders accept the rotation of power peacefully, and civil society and the media educate the population about democracy.
The European Commission proposes a partial review of the association agreements with Israel, including sanctions on extremist ministers and tariffs, but without stopping arms sales. This measure is seen as insufficient and generates criticism, especially in the face of the crisis in Gaza. Germany and Italy oppose it, and the EU lacks a credible plan to address the humanitarian crisis.
Since Trump’s inauguration, the federalist struggle has intensified between red and blue states, clashing over issues such as abortion, redistricting, voting rights, vaccines, and immigration. The autonomy of conservative and liberal states is being challenged. The Women, Peace and Security Agenda faces global challenges such as complex conflicts and erosion of rights. It proposes to focus on 21st-century security, concrete actions, inclusive mediation, avoiding political instrumentalization, empowering women’s networks, and recognizing their political leadership in peace, closing gender inequality gaps and promoting equality in a changing environment of power and conflict.
